FAQ's

Hopefully this will answer any questions you may have -

Q: Is there a surcharge for remote areas?
A: No. Each price is worked out individually and is more dependant on the actual mileage than how remote the area is.

Q: What about Islands?
A: For offshore areas that are not accessible by un-tolled bridges or causeways, the price will increase due to ferry fares. In these cases I will supply a price for my services and separately tell you how much the ferry (usually Calmac) will cost. If you live near the island's ferry terminal you may wish to travel across as a foot passenger then return back with your new bike on the ferry. In this case I would happily meet you at the mainland ferry terminal (Scrabster, Ullapool, Mallaig, Aberdeen, Uig etc) in time for your sailing.

Q: Do you deliver any other items?
A: BK Scooters is a dedicated motorbike delivery service. From time to time when the vehicle is not transporting bikes we may carry other large or bulky items, particularly motorcycle/automotive related (ie parts/equipment) that a normal courier would refuse. These items would never impede on the motorcycle service - our line of business is delivering bikes, we are not a parcels or removals company.

Q: How can I pay? Is there a Deposit?
A: For some long distance deliveries a deposit will be required up front. This can be paid online securely using Paypal, postal order, sometimes by cash (depending on your location) or by cheque. Please note cheques can take up to a week to clear and delivery cannot commence until funds are released. You can pay the remainder of the amount as cash when the bike is delivered. Or, if you're the seller, when the bike is picked up.

Q: Will my bike be safe and secure?
A: Yes. I treat each and every bike as if it where my own. 95% of the time bikes are enclosed inside a van, sometimes when demand is high a trailer is also used (by prior arrangement). Bikes are loaded using a specially made ramp then secured using quality straps and eyes that are bolted into the main chassis of the van. Straps are tight but not overly tight. Never in any way has a motorbike been damaged in its loading, securing, and transportation. I can never see this happening.

Q: Is my bike insured while it's with you?
A: After looking in great detail at the terms and conditions of relevant GIT (Goods In Transit) insurance policies I have decided not to take one out. I don't feel any of them offer anything worthwhile - they have large excess's and their coverage is pretty slim. Never on any occasion has a motorbike been damaged whilst in my care, and I cannot for see this ever happening. If any damage was ever somehow caused I would of course have it repaired to a very high standard, and much quicker than any insurance company would.
Also, by not spending large sums of money on such irrelevant insurance policies means I can pass the saving on to you, the end user.

Q: If I give you the cash will you pay the seller of the bike for me?
A: BK Scooters is not a cash delivery service. We may on a rare occasion carry a small amount for you but this would have to be arranged in advance. We suggest that people pay sellers using postal orders/cheques sent in advance, bank transfer, or online payment systems like Paypal or Nochex, possibly Western Union as well.

Q: Will you be able to find my house?
A: Using a combination of up to date satellite navigation, map reading skills, and local knowledge, there isn't many places I can't. Occasionally in remote areas I may need extra directions from yourself to pinpoint your house though.
